VON Gets Acting DG The Federal government has approved the appointment of an acting director-general for the Voice of Nigeria (VON) following the retirement of its former boss, Mr Taiwo Alimi. Alhaji Abubakar Jijiwa, who was VON's Director of Admi-nistration and Finance, is to act in that capacity. Jijiwa is to act pending the appoint-ment of a sustantive director-general. The new VON chief will assume duties today after a handing-over ceremony billed to hold at VON's headquarters. Meanwhile, the erstwhile director-general who was attacked by armed robbers last week is receiving medical attention at an undisclosed Lagos hospital. His official jeep, which was snatched by the robbers at Sagamu, Ogun, has not been recovered. Alimi, who was the second director-general of VON, signed a lot of memorandum with foreign media agencies during his tenure.
