Dikibo's Successor: Attah Denounces Media Reports

Governor Victor Attah of Akwa Ibom State has denounced media reports accusing him of pursuing a selfish agenda in his condemnation of the emergence of Chief Godspower Ake as the successor to the late Chief Aminasoari Dikibo, former National Vice-chairman (South-south) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Attah, who read out the portion of the report from a particular newspaper (not THISDAY), described it as yellow journalism and wondered where the writers of the report got their facts from.
On failed contracts in the state, the governor disclosed that his government has recovered N90 million from Sterling Construction Company for breaching contractual agreements entered into with the state government.
He stated that Sterling construction after collecting mobilisation feees for the construction of Ikemba Trough drianage system went ahead to use the funds collected to service otherr jobs given to it by other state governments to the detriment of its obligations to the Akwa Ibom State government.
He described the action of Sterling as unprofessional and added that the money was rcovered following a court jugdement against Sterling.
According to Attah to ensure that such incidents dnt happen again,his administration has ste up administration and technical teams to to monitor and supervise every project under construction in the state.
On the sttae's independent poewer plant, Obong Attah gave clarifications,stressing that the permission given for by President Obasanjo was for the state's 100 barrels refinery and not the IPP project.
He disclosed that the sttae was shopping for a third partner to join it in ensuring that the rfinery becomes a reality.He stressed that the two turbines presently in the possesion of the sttae government was not enough,and emphasised that the sttae needs 4 more turbines in other to proceed.
On the call by some Northern Governors that the law passed removing the onshore/offshore dichotomy to be reveresd,Obong Attah sttaed that the matter has not been tabled before the Governors Forum, but has instead been taken to court.He however emphasised that ''Nigerians should emphasis those things that unite us and not those things that divide us''.
He thanked the people of the sttae for their support during the president's recent visit to the sttae and also for their support when he was given a chieftancy title in Imo sttae as ''onyeama Mbaise. He reiterated that the title will forge the bond of friendhip and good neighbourliness between Akaw Ibom and Imo state.
