NICON Hilton's New Look Front Desk The on-going refurbishment project of NICON Hilton Abuja received a boost with the opening of the renovated Front Desk. The new look Front Desk was unveiled Tuesday August 10, 2004. Public Relations Manager of the hotel, Shola Adeyemo said that with the opening, "it was bye-bye to the old set-up and welcome to the simple but classy and space efficient set-up. The new desk features modern ergonomic pc workstations with 17'' flat monitors, new marble desk top, and new patterned carpets. New ambiance lighting and wall paint were also put in place to complement the new colour scheme of the desk. Another striking feature of the new desk is the installation of three 43'' plasma screens that serve to provide information about the hotel's activities and events to the guests all-round the clock. Other features are new stainless steel clocks that highlight the time in major time zones around the world that adorn the wall of the area. The new Guest Relations Desk features a more spacious desk with exotic sofas and a separate check-in point for Hilton Honors members. Guests would not fail to notice the hotel's conscious effort to identify with the strength in Nigeria's cultural diversity with the mini statutes of couples from the different geo-political zones of the country sitting pretty inside the framed wall behind the desk. "The feedback from the guests has been that of fascination and commendation for the management's initiative at providing added value to their stay in the hotel, " Adeyemo said. The hotel's refurbishment project is expected to be completed by the end of first quarter in 2005.
