Ondo police recover 2 fresh
skulls, seize priest

POLICE in Ondo State have
recovered two fresh human skulls in different parts of the state while a priest
at one of the shrines has been arrested.
Also in police net is a man who allegedly shot his son dead
and another one who allegedly plucked out his wife�s left eyes, following which
she died.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nwachukwu
Egbochukwu, told journalists yesterday in Akure, the state capital, that one of
the skulls was recovered at Ode-Irele, while the other one was picked up at Ajue,
near Ore.
Mr. Egbochukwu said one of the suspects
simply called Taye, the purported owner of the skull found at Ode-Irele, fled on
sighting the police.
He spoke at a press conference on
activities in the command.
According to him, during a search in his
house, another suspect, Adeya was picked up there while a human skull, one
wooden box and some yards of blood-stained clothes were recovered.
The police commissioner said a priest to
Ayelala, one of the deities in Ikale area of the state, who is resident
at Ajue, near Ore, is now in police custody.
He said the priest was alleged to have
removed and sold a human skull to an unidentified buyer.
Mr. Egbochukwu, also said four suspected
cultists from the state-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, have been
arrested after a clash with a rival group.
Another suspect in police net was one Ojo,
who allegedly shot dead his son at Ikare on the claim that he was insane.
A man who plucked the left eye of his
wife, who later died also at Ikare, for an alleged infidelity, was also helping
the police to unravel circumstance surrounding the matter.
Mr. Egbochukwu disclosed further that
during the same period, two robbery suspects were shot dead, some arrested while
the bus suspectedly used for human trafficking and which was carrying children
between the ages of 10 and 22, from Makurdi, Benue State was intercepted, while
the driver and another person were arrested.
