Softly, softly, Hon. Bugaje

Ordinarily, there is no need to draw the attention of my brother Hon. Bugaje, but as a member of his constituency, I know a little about how he came on board, to the House and if he has forgotten, he should be reminded of the likes of Hon. Musa Nuhu Gahiya, who was forced to withdraw his mandate for Hon. Bugaje against the will and the interest of the people of Kaita and Jibia constituency. Hon. Bugaje was imposed on them, with the hope to succeed Hon. Ghali Umar Na’aba as the Speaker, House of Reps. But that was not the will of God. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari it was, who the Almighty predestined to be. This development is now history.
After the recently concluded dual ceremony in honour of the Hon. Speaker by the people of Katsina and the Nigerian Students in a modest ceremony, Hon. Bugaje used the forum of the MSS to attack Hon. Masari.
The scatting attack launched on the respectable Hon. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari (Dallatun Katsina) by Dr. Usman Bugaje is most unfair, and uncalled for.
After being called to order over his attitudes against the Federal Government Bugaje mellowed down from his vituperations only to resurface recently with his attacks on Speaker Masari and the respected Katsina emirate establishment. He has picked on the wrong personality and institution.
What has the Emir of Katsina done wrong to warrant Bugaje’s assault? Is conferring the chieftaincy title on a worthy son of Katsina a crime? Bugaje who claimed to be so well travelled should have known that even the Queen of England confers titles on deserving people. The peerage system is the British way of acknowledging the contributions of their people. Why should the case of Katsina emirate be different?
Hear him: “How many schools are there without books in their libraries? How many hospitals are around here in (Katsina) without drugs?
But if we may ask: since when has it become the job of the legislature to execute policies and provide infrastructure? Maybe the political scientist sees no distinction between the executive and legislature?
If Bugaje is so bothered about the state of infrastructure, he should resume his past time of attacks on the presidency. If he believes the presidency has failed, it is important to remind him that both President Olusegun Obasanjo and Turakin Adamawa are doing their best. If he cannot praise his boss (Turaki) he should spare him of false accusations.
If the man believes the nation is not getting its priority right, what are his alternatives? More than a year as the chairman of House Foreign Affairs Committee, what has he got to show?
Masari is a man of peace and Bugaje should accept the will of God and save himself the embarrassment that awaits those who do not believe in the will of God, as his election to the House is a will of God, against the wish of the people of his constituency.
