N25bn Capital Base Not Against North-Yerima From Yakubu Musa in Kano Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Sani Yerima has dismissed insinuation that the N 25 billion capital base imposed on banks by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was designed in order to cripple banks from the northern part of the country. Sani speaking at an interactive session with journalists in Kano, Yerima pointed out that banks from the north should see the policy as a challenge that would motivate them to grow. "I don't see it as an agenda to stop the northern banks. The chairman of the largest bank in the county, First Bank, is Omar Muttalab and he is a northerner. So business is not a regional affair, the policy is a big challenge to the north and south." On allegation that ANNP governors have dumped the party's presidential candidate Gen. Buhari (rtd.)
