5 Injured as Gunmen Invade Police Station By Eugene Agha Gunmen in military uniform last Sunday invaded Shogunle Police Station, at the end of which many people including five police officers, were said to have been injured. Although, the cause of the invasion could not be ascertained as at press time, a police source at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, said the gunmen drove into the station around 10.15 pm. in a Lagos State Commercial bus and immediately opened fire on the officers injuring a lot of people in the process. One Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) identified as Matthew Obi attached to the station, the source said, was among officers injured. "Some civilians who were at the station to lodge one complaint were also injured" the source added. The source who alleged that he was unduty when the report was intercepted at the control room, said further that around 10.45 pm. a distress call was received at the Command Headquarters about the alleged invasion of Shogunle Police Station by a group of people in military camouflage. Upon receipt of the information, a team of police from Oshodi Police Station was drafted to the scene. Although, nobody has been arrested, the source said the police team recovered four empty shells of 7,62 calibre ammunition after an operation which he claimed lasted 30 munites. While the attack at Shogunle was on, the source said another distress message was intercepted at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, that two Airforce men attached to Airforce Base and whose identities could not be ascertained, were shot and wounded by a team of Federal Highway Patrol officers led by one Inspector Patrick Yusufu at Ogere, on the Ibadan - Lagos Expressway.
