Constituency May Recall Nzeribe From Charles Onyekamuo in Awka People of Ihiala Federal Constituency of Anambra State have indicated their willingness to recall member in the Federal House of Representatives, Chief Chuma Nzeribe, following what they considered his "malicious attack" on the person and office of the Governor, Dr. Chris Ngige. This indication was given by the President-General of Ihiala Progress Union (IPU), C.N. Nsobundu in an address he presented on behalf of the union, the Igwe in council and the entire people of the town on the ocassion of the Governor's reception by the community, during which the Catholic Church honoured him as patron of Christ the King Catholic Church, Umezeawala, Ihiala. Ihiala is Chief Nzeribe's home town. He was vehemently opposed to the idea of honouring Dr. Ngige with the patronship of the Church in his town, insisting that Ngige had visited the Ogwugwu-Akpu Okija shrine where he swore to an oath of allegiance to his former godfather, Chief Chris Uba, prior to his becoming Governor of Anambra state. He had written the Catholic secretariat in Nigeria, and the Pope, at the Vatican opposing Ngige's investiture on the grounds that he allegedly enrolled as a member of the Ogwugwu-shrine cult. But Nsobundu said: "We are certainly aware that one Chuma Nzeribe wrote a petition to the Catholic Archbishop to stop today's event, but he was roundly ignored.
