Army Training Range Takes Off Next Year From Jide Orintunsin in Minna Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Martin Luther Agwai has said that the proposed Nigerian Army Training School Range in Kontagora, Niger State, will commence training next year. He made this disclosure on in Minna during a courtesy call on governor, Abdulkadir Kure. According to the Army boss, plans have been concluded to commence training at the range before the end of the first quarters of 2005, adding that the development of the range will be perfected before the end of this year. "Mr. Governor, we are doing everything possible to develop the training range before the end of this year, to be able to accommodate all categories of military field training", Agwai stated. Stressing the need for regular filed training, the Army Chief said that the range will be used for proper testing of warfare facilities, to keep officers and men on their toes and on high spirit in readiness for any military assignment. Justifying the choice of Kontagora, Agwai said the vast land, thick forest and high ground of the range, made it a suitable place, adding that the range is also capable of hosting all year round military training. He then commended the Niger State government for granting the certificate of occupancy of the range, as well as its friendly posture to all military formations in the State.
