Delta to Spend N2.2bn on Housing From Jaiyeola Andrews in Asaba Delta State government has said it will spend N2.2 billion in building low and medium cost housing units in all its oil-producing communities. The units of houses will cut across the three senatorial districts which the Governent says will be about 500. Disclosing this yesterday in Asaba while briefing newsmen on activities of his ministry, Commissioner Housing, Love Ojakovo said the state was poised to addressing the accommodation problems of oil-producing areas. The commissioner gave a breakdown of the locations as, Delta Central 13 locations, as South 5 and North 2. Explaining why Delta Central was allocated more locations, he said the area has more oil producing communities than the other districts. On reasons for revoking lands allocated by Delta Development Property Authority (DDPA) in Ibusa to some people, Ojakovo said the state took the actions because DDPA acted outside its terms of reference. Continuing, the commissioner pointed out that the land in question was for an estate which the people of Ibusa will have benefitted from but DDPA allocated it to some politicians, legislators and commissioners.
