Don't Protest Here, Edo Govt Advises MASSOB From Omon-Julius Onabu in Benin-City Edo State Government has advised members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) to rescind their reported decision to embark on a protest march in parts of the state on August 26. Deputy Governor, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe gave the warning on behalf of the administration during a reception in honour of the retiring Commander of the 4th Mechanised Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Henry Oke. Oghiadomhe said Edo is a peace-loving state which does not harbour any ethnic militia, saying since the protest could threaten peace, it was not welcome. Law enforcement agents have been directed to deal with any threat to peace in the state, he warned, noting that the reported plan by certain traders to lock their shops on the said date could only be regarded as an act of sabotage.
