Kwara Plans to Resuscitate Media Houses From Tunde Sanni in Ilorin Kwara State Commiss -ioner for Information and Home Affairs, Alhaji AbdulRaheem Adedoyin, has flagged off the monthly ministry press briefing in the state, assuring of government plans to turn around the state owned media outfits. Responding to questions after the briefing, Adedoyin said government would pump over N500 million into the state owned television station,to enable it can compete favourably with federal television stations in the state. He said a major project to widen the reach of the station would commence next year. On Radio Kwara, the commissioner hinted that the state of the art equipment ordered for the station would be arriving five weeks ahead of time, to strengthen its reach. Adedoyin said government is desirous of taking The Herald Newspapers to the daily market to put in place a friendly atmosphere to facilitate a smooth return. "We are addressing critical issues on The Herald case to facilitate its daily production", he said, adding that "we are running away from the culture of just pumping money into our media system to create a false impression about ourselves". He said he has been able to put a stop to the use of the ministry as the dumping ground for unskilled workers as information officers.
