Odili Raises Panel on Ataba Conflict Rivers From Okon Bassey in Port Harcourt A six-man Judicial Comm -ission of Enquiry has been inaugurated by Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili, to unravel those behind the 16-year-old crisis that had been ravaging the Ataba Community, in Andoni Local Government area. At the inauguration, Odili urged members to identify those involved in the series of conflicts in the area. He said government cannot fold its hands and allow few individuals take laws into their hands, assuming that the Commission's recommendations would be implemented. Listing eight points terms of reference, Odili said government would look at the recommendations with all amount of seriousness, so as to find lasting solution to the crisis. "Time has come for us to turn a new leaf in our communities; enough of this chieftaincy and community related killings in our state. No human being has right to take another person's life, enough is enough," Odili warned. The panel was mandated to investigate and ascertain remote and immediate causes of the disturbances, and submit its report within 21 days. Chairman of the Commission, Hon Justice Peter Agumagu, commended the state government for the confidence reposed on members by entrusting them with the responsibility.
