Need for Christian Unity Stressed Delta From Onwuka Nzeshi in Warri Adherents of the Christian faith have been enjoined to jettison doctrinal discriminations amongst the various Christian sects and uphold the principle of ecumenism and the universality of God. Rev. Fr. Joachim Aghware, said this while being conferred with an honourary doctorate degree by the Ministerial College of Theology, Warri, an affiliate of Cleveland University of Theology, Tennessee, USA. Aghware, a catholic minister and parish priest at the Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ughelli, Delta State said discriminations amongst Christian sects have over the years diminish the body of Christ, especially when groups create the impression that theirs are entirely different and has no bearing on the same Jesus Christ, the author of Christianity. Asked if there was no conflict in a catholic priest receiving a doctoral award from a Pentecostal institution such as the Ministerial College of Theology, Aghware said. "I do not see any conflict because Christ is one. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. As the word of God says as it was in the beginning so shall it be. There is no change at all. There should be no discrimination because we believe in ecumenism and we are all working in the spirit of ecumenism." He expressed appreciation to the University for deeming him fit for the honour and pledged to continue to strive to promote the cause of humanity through the service of the Church.
