Director of Youth Development in the Sports Ministry Patrick Ekeji said Obikwelu still remains a Nigerian not minding his status now. "We have to congratulate him so as to encourage him despite his status. He still remains a Nigerian. He has Nigerian blood flowing in his veins. So, the fact that he is running for Portugal has not changed anything. I saw him when he was doing the victory lap but his reaction was quite incongruous. He was not too enthusiastic about it because he was not in his traditional Green White and Green colours. We all saw it and we shared in his accomplishment. We wish him luck." Obikwelu won the silver medal in the 100 metres with a time of 9.98 secs. He will also be competing in the 200 metres event which is his major strength.
