NFA Reform Body Aims to Beat Deadline Determined to beat the October 19, 2004 submission deadline of its Report, the Nigeria Football Association Structure Reform Committee has quickened its pace by working extra hours. Since the inauguration of the Reform Committee by the Hon. Minister of Sports and Social Development, Col. Musa Mohammed (Rtd) on July 15, 2004, the Committee headed by former Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Babayo Shehu has met thrice. Before breaking into sub-committees, all resource persons penciled and contacted to deliver papers had turned up with impressive submissions that could positively enhance the working of the Committee. The only exception is Mr. Adokiye Amiesimaka who declined the invitation referring the Committee to his panel's latest work on an autonomous premier league. All others showed tremendous enthusiasm in their responses. Messrs Mitchell Obi and Sani Toro sent in their papers; Messrs Segun Odegbami and Patrick Ekeji had earlier written that their presentation would be made after the Athens Olympic Games. A delegation of the Committee led by the Chairman made a condolence visit to the family of late Patrick Okpomo who was to have presented a paper as a resource person. In appraising the Committee's work, Alhaji Babayo Shehu expressed delight at the resource persons' response which were found to be very useful during the deliberations, and was satisfied with the progress being made - exuding confidence that the final Report will be ready ahead of time. Specifically, the Committee is favourably disposed to recommending some positive changes in the running of Nigerian Football.
