Ex-International Lauds Coca-Cola FA Cup

Ex-international, Oladunni Oyekale, who was among the spectators that thronged the Jimeta Temporary Stadium to watch the Adamawa United versus Rangers match of the Coca-Cola sponsored FA Cup, has said that soccer talents abound in every nooks and crannies of the country.

Buttressing this, the ex-footballer turned coach said, "Coca-Cola through its sponsorship of the FA Cup has unveiled some young and talented players especially in the Adamawa United side."

Some of the players spotted by the lanky coach are goalkeeper Anderika Iyakson, who was unarguably the man of the match, Samuel Ediba and lone goal scorer, Wasiu Olatunde from the Adamawa United side with Igweokolo Prince and Ofor Ifeanyi from Rangers International.

He said: "With exposure and more competitive competitions like the Coca-Cola FA Cup, Nigeria will soon produce world beaters in football with arrays of stars at the beck and call of the National team handlers."

Coach Oladunni Oyekale, who was a member of the El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri FC all conquering team in the 1991 National Challenge Cup, added: "Unlike our playing days, the glamour of the FA Cup had increased because Coca-Cola has boosted the Championship with incentives."

The incentives apart from the mouth watering cash prizes for participating teams and the star prize of N3m for the winner, individual prices for players, teams are now being kitted in Coca-Cola branded jerseys while fans are treated to free Coca-Cola drinks, with different souvenirs as take away gifts.

He also lauded the sponsors recognition of ex-players at the finals of every year edition, urging them not to relent as this idea will spur upcoming footballers to give their best as their efforts will be rewarded even in years to come.
