Ngene praises Nnamani for supporting police
The Chairman of Enugu South Local Government, Mr. Sam Ngene,
has commended the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, on the recent
launch of the Police Community Project in the state.
The Inspector General of Police, Tafa Balogun, had last week
in Enugu inaugurated the first pilot scheme of this project. During the occasion, the
Inspector-General paid glowing tribute to the governor on his
government’s effort to curb crimes in the state. This, he said, convinced
the police authorities to use the state for the pilot scheme.
Speaking with reporters in his office, Ngene praised the
governor for his innovative ideas since he assumed the mantle of leadership in
the state. The council boss confirmed that the high incidence of crimes in the
state was a thing of the past, stating that with the government’s policy
to ban high-speed motorcycles early in the year, criminals had left the state
because the policy made it difficult for them to operate. He added that the
efforts of the governor to safeguard lives and properties had enhanced economic
activities in the state as more investors now feel safe to invest in the state.
He also commended the governor’s new directive to the
Ministry of Poverty Alleviation on job creation scheme, saying that this was
the first of its kind in the country. Ngene advised the other governors to
borrow a leaf from Nnamani as this would enable the restless youths in the
country to believe in the future of this country.
