Thousands of lawyers from across the country have been meeting in Abuja since Monday for the annual convention of the Nigerian Bar Association. The highpoint of the conference is its general election scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday). Among the offices to be contested for are those of the president, currently being occupied by Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN). The contestants to the exalted seat are Chief Bayo Ojo (SAN), Ilorin NBA, Chief J.B. Daudu (SAN), Kaduna NBA, Mahmoud (SAN), Kano NBA and Chief Umeh Ndubuisi Philip, Lagos NBA. The office of the general secretary is being contested by six candidates, including Ade Ademuwagun, Ajie Corol, Akomoni E. Goddy, Ameh I. Sunday, Igbokwe C. George and Welson Jack Nimisore. Those who will eventually emerge are expected to lead the association in the next one year.
