Akinfenwa: AD South-west Disagrees with Afenifere From Ademola Adeyemo in Ibadan and Olawale Olaleye in Lagos Members of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the South-west yesterday rejected the recognition of the Mojisoluwa Akinfenwa's group by the leaders of Afenifere. Both Chief Bisi Akande and Akinfenwa were elected at separate conventions which had factionalised the party. However Afenifere at the meeting held in Akure last week threw its weight behind the Akinfenwa group. However, yesterday, leaders of Akinfenwa's factional its South-west meeting in Ibadan, declared their support for the Afenifere's endorsement of Akinfenwa as AD national chariman, dismising the call by some AD members that aniother convention should be held to choose a new executive members. Meanwhile, leaders of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) has said that the only potent solution to the lingering crisis rocking the party is the convocation of a fresh election where an authentic national chairman would be elected. AD discarded Afenifere's endorsement of Akinfenwa as the party chairman, saying Afenifere's claim lacks in logic and has no basis in the current political development. This was contained in a statement by Chief S. D Lot (National Secretary) among others, noting that the party leadership felt disappointed and disagreed completely with the position taken by Afenifere, stressing that the only solution to the crisis of the party is a fresh convention.
