Biafra Day: No Going Back - MASSOB From Agaju Madugba in Kaduna Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has reaffirmed its commitment to observe Biafra Day tomorrow. Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna yesterday, MASSOB National Director of Mobilisation, Mr. Sam Ike, said the United Nations (UN) had already sent a delegation of 752 observers to monitor the exercise. Ike explained that the day was being marked to demonstrate MASSOB'S concern for the plight of Biafrans even as he asked all people from the South-east living both within and outside the country to remain indoors while traders should close their shops and other places of business. According to him, "all Biafrans should pray to God to deliver us from bondage because for over 40 years Biafrans have continued to lose. Easterners are used as sacrificial lambs without intervention from the Federal Government of Nigeria." The MASSOB director alleged that Federal Government had shipped a large consignment of ammunition to the house of a prominent Igboman in Anambra State to blackmail MASSOB on the occasion of the Biafra Day. He regretted that the objective was to portray MASSOB as a violent group. But, according to Ike, "our struggle is non-violent, we do not use arms or weapons and we will continue to abide by our no-violence posture."
