Adefarati Asks Court to Halt Probe From Funso Muraina in Akure Former Governor of Ondo State, Chief Adebayo Adefarati, has filed a suit at an Akure High Court to halt the probe of his administration. The suit was similar to the ones filed by some military administrators and former commissioners who faced the panel set up by Chief Adebayo Adefarati. Upon threat by the then office holders to ignore Justice Rasheed Fawehinmi (rtd)-led commission of inquiry, the probe went unhitched and in the end, some of them were indicted and were accordingly penalised. Some of them have either been appointed by the current administration as career officers or reabsorbed into the service. At yesterday's sitting, the hall was thrown into laughter as the director of civil engineering in the state ministry of works, Mr Benson Otegbeye, testified in the controversial N17billion Igbokoda-Ayetoro Road. A former permanent secretary in the same ministry, Olasehinde Akinbua, told the commission that he was not involved in the contract award, saying the then commissioner, Chief Erastus Akeju dealt directly with his director. He expressed surprised that in a multi-billion naira project he could be sidelined, adding that as a civil servant he felt that procedures were jettisoned.
