Daily Times: New Owners Resolve Differences

Folio Communications Con-sortium, the new owners of Daily Times of Nigeria (DTN) yesterday, said it has resolved the differences that ensued following the differences in position among the stakeholders of the newly acquired company, stating that the issues involved approach to the realisation of the core objectives of the acquistion of the newspaper outfit.
The consortium, in a statement signed by Dr. Chidi Amuta on behalf of Mr. Fidelis Anosike (chairman), Hon. Chidi Duru and Mr. Mike Nwachukwu noted that the differences in position that may have occasioned the misunderstanding "were essentially matters of approach to the realisation of the core objectives of the acquisition".
The statement explained that the stakeholders in resolving the differences "engaged each other in a series of frank discussions and dialogue with a view to resolving divergent views".
According to them, "the differences in position that may have occasioned the misunderstanding were essentially matters of approach to the realisation of the core objectives of the acquisition", adding that "these differences have now been amicably resolved among ourselves without the intervention of any third party."
The stakeholders pledged that "in the light of the foregoing, we would like to reasure the public that we remain committed to our earlier stated objectives of resuscitating and re-engineering the Daily Times of Nigeria to occupy its rightful position as a leading media company not only in Nigeria but internationally".
The statement further added that the stakeholders assured that they were resolute in ensuring that the company's corporate philosophy is adhered to without compromise in whatever way.
"We also undertake, as a matter of public trust, that the affirs of the daily Times, going forward, will be conducted in the best tradition of good corporate governance", it stated.
