Confusion engulfs Team Nigeria Camp

Nigeria officials who
complained about poor treatment by the organising committee of the Sydney2000
Olympics have now said that was a childs play compared to what they have been
subjected to by the organising committee of the on-going Olympics in Athens,
Greece.
Matters are made worse
by the fact that Team Nigeria, as the national team to the games is known has
not done well at the games thus making the Athens Olympics organizing officials
to wink at Nigerian officials in disdain.
Angry Team Nigeria officials
desperate to avoid the flight rush after the games have already started
returning to the country complaining of how names of officials and even athletes
were not entered into the official Nigerian contingent for the games by the
Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).
There is total
breakdown of law and order in the Team Nigerian camp. Athletes no longer listen
to officials and even most officials frustrated by the poor run of the team are
too humiliated to tell the remaining athletes to put in their best and excel.
The NOC has not helped matters by the manner they have treated most officials
with disregard as if the games are only for them and not for all Nigerian
officials, observed an official who just returned to the country.
There are also suggestions
that Sports Minister, Musa Mohammed, a retired colonel at a point, during the
games, contemplated resignation because of the countrys poor run but was
prevailed upon to hold his peace until the team returns to the country.
Nigerian has so far not won a medal at the games.
