Ojo emerges NBA president By Kemi Ogedengbe The national delegate conference of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) ended yeste-rday with the election of Mr Bayo Ojo from Kogi State as the new president of the association. Mr Ojo, who is the current chairman of the Legal Aid Council, beat three other contesters – J. B Daudu, A. B. Mahmood and Philiph Umeh to emerge the 22nd NBA president. Mr Ojo is taking over the NBA leadership from Chief Oluwole Olanipekun. According to result announced by the electoral com-mittee chairman, Mr Goddy Ibru, Bayo Oyo (SAN) scored 506 votes, followed by J. B. Daudu (SAN) with 268 votes. According to him, A. B. Mahmood (SAN) scored 214 votes while Chief Umeh Ndubuisi Philiph got 41 votes respectively. Others elected are, Walson Jack Nimisore who scored 375 votes to beat five other contesters for general secretary post. Also elected was Azura D. D. (Esq) from Yola who emerged 2nd vice-president, while the post of 1st vice-president went to Odogiyon Adelanke Adetoyese who scored 501 votes against Grant V. O. (Esq) who polled 495 votes. The delegate conference which attracted over 1000 legal practitioners took place at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Abuja.     TO NEXT NEWS PAGE...
