Customs Redeploys 23 Controllers

About 23 controllers of Nigeria Customs Service serving in different commands across the country have been redeployed in a major management reshuffle announced yesterday.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Wale Adeniyi stated that 11 customs area controllers were redeployed to new commands, while seven new ones were appointed to head area commands.
Those redeployed according to the statement include Comp-trollers Jerry Alagbaoso of Calabar Port who moves over to the Tin Can Island Port; Abiodun Adeogun moved from Onne Port to Port Harcourt Area 1, and Gabriel Aliyu who was moved from Kano to Calabar Port.
Others are Comptrollers C.A. Nnanna who now moves from Tin Can Island to Warri Port, while the former Comp-troller, Mr. Eno Ofem moves to Kano/Jigawa; Comptroller Garba Makarfi from Port Harcourt will now take charge of Kaduna/ Katsina and the former comptroller, Dr. T.V. Anpe will now head the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) command.
The statement added that Messrs Daniel Jatau from the FCT will now head the Sokoto/Kebbi/Zamfara; Kamal Yusuf from Abia/Imo to Borno/Yobe, Bello Abdullahi from Adamawa/ Taraba to Imo/Abia and Godwin Tingir from Western Marine to Kogi/Kwara/Niger.
Also, seven new Comptrol-lers were redeployed from the Headquarters units to head different customs formations.
They include Controllers Muazu Umar to head Adamawa/Taraba, John Atte (Ogun), Ahmed Aliyu (Onne Port) and Shakiru Yisa (Western Marine).
The rest are Messrs Salisu Argungu (Customs Intelli-gence Unit), Suleiman I, (Murtala Mohammed Interna-tional Airport) and Samuel Banye (Lilypond Command).
The eight Area Controllers retained in their commands include Messrs Olu Adeniyi (Apapa), Garba Tahir (Seme), Gideon Gotip (Kirikiri Lighter Terminal), and Mrs Ako (Lagos Industrial).
Others are controllers Ahmed (Ondo/Ekiti), Madu Mohammed (Oyo/Osun), Dr. Kangiwa (Benue/Plateau/ Nassarawa) and Hassan Kila (Anambra/ Enugu/ Ebonyi).
The statement further explained that the changes described as routine were effected to enhance the operational efficiency of the Service and sustain the current tempo of anti-smuggling activities nationwide.
The new Customs Comp-troller-General, Mr. Jacob Buba assumed office early this year and was given the task of reforming the Service.
