FG Assures On Expatriate Permit From Kingsley Nwezeh in Abuja Federal Government said yesterday it was pursuing the combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Alien Card Scheme (CERPAC) with vigour. Minister of State for Internal Affairs, Mallam Saidu Balarabe while on a working visit to the office of the technical partners on CERPAC project, (Continental Tranfert Technique) said the essence of the project was to ensure that, "expatriates and other aliens live happily and move freely in the country as they engage in their legitimate transactions," adding that the purpose was already being achieved through the CERPAC scheme. The minister maintained that government had already put in place machinery aimed at ensuring that all aliens in the country were registered under the scheme. He said with the introduction of the scheme, delays in processing immigration documents would be a thing of the past. He directed the technical partners, Continental Transfert Technique and the Nigerian Immigration Service to establish CERPAC offices in Onne and Calabar Free Trade Zones to take care of the immigration needs of expatriates and aliens in the those places. Presently, he said, the CERPAC scheme was being operated with two electronic cards, the green card for resident permit and the brown card for alien registration as well as a booklet for allien movement in the country.
