' Delta: Anniversary is Worth Celebrating' From Jaiyeola Andrews in Asaba As Delta State marks the 13th anniversary of its creation today, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, has said though the state is young, the event is worth celebrating, because of the achievements of the Ibori's administration in the area of peace and developments. Speaking to THISDAY yesterday in Asaba, the SSG said, "We know that at the creation of Delta State, there was jubilation in certain areas and there was something near crises in other parts because of the location of the state capital. But as at today, the initial has gone and the state has become one". According to Uduaghan, Ibori's administration has built handsome level of confidence into the entire state, adding that the governor has been fair to all parts of the state in infrastructural development. He stressed that Ibori had taken Asaba as the state capital, erasing the doubt people have that being an Urhobo man, he might not treat Asaba as the state capital. On how he would rate Ibori's administration, he said "it is difficult to make comparison, because things are not exactly the same in terms of revenue that accrue to the state." He noted that tbefore now, what was coming to the state was like peanut, but with the 13 per cent derivation fund, more money accrue to the state and it boosts development. In the last five years, Uduaghan said the state government has done well, but that there was still room for improvement On whether the riverrine dwellers of the state feel the impact of the state government, he said, "I have been to the riverine communities, they are quite happy, i went there to commission some projects".
