Urhobo Youths Flay Splinter Groups Delta From Onwuka Nzeshi in Warri Urhobo National Youth Council yesterday expressed displeasure at the proliferation of youth organisations in Urhoboland, and accused the leadership of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) of deliberately instigating division and factionalisation for selfish interests. Rising from a congress of the youth council held at Aladja, Udu Local Government Council, leaders of the Council blamed the development on the recently established UPU Committee on Youth Affairs, alleging that it had long metamorphosed into a weapon for the Chief Benjamin Okumagba led Urhobo Progress Union to interfere in the activities of youth in Urhobo Land. Its President, Comrade Keston Okoro, recalled that youth of Urhobo ethnic nationality were under one umbrella until UPU began to meddle in youth affairs. THISDAY gathered that the extraneous committee set up the UPU, the apex socio-cultural organisation of the Urhobo ethnic groups in Delta State, changed the constitution of the organisation and pegged the age limit of members at 32.
