Eko Hotel, Others Win Travellers Award for Innovation
Eko Hotel and Russel Suites, Abuja have won the innovation awards of Travellers Award for their all-suites services. While Chelsea Hotel, Abuja was also given the innovation award category for having internet in all rooms, not just the modems but with a PC.
Travellers Awards for Innovation is given to hotels that introduce top of the line and new facilities that are not popular in the industry as a way of encouraging other organisations.
The Travellers Award Committee under the chairmanship of Mrs. Fatima Garbati of NATOP who stood in for former minister of Culture and Tourism, Ms Boma Bromillow Jack also approved the other results collected via the internet for winners in other categories.
Abuja Sheraton and NICON Hilton Abuja will receive awards for having the Best Waiters and Waitresses in the country.
The major Award for International Hotel of the Year will be announced at a ceremony to be held in October at Sheraton Lagos Hotel & Towers during the one year anniversary of African Travel Quarterly (ATQ) Magazine, the organisers of the award. It is among the high profile awards whose winners are being kept secret.
The 8th edition of Travellers Award results approved by the committee includes Nike Lake and Binez as the Best hotels in South-east geo-political zone ; Hamdala and Royal Tropicana as the Best Hotels in North-west in zone; Confluence Hotel Lokoja and Makurdi Plaza as the Best Hotels in the Middle Belt; Zaranda Hotel and Yola International as the Best Hotels in North-east zone.
Others are Miccom Golf Resort and Premier Hotels as the best in South-west; Grand Hotel, Asaba and Meridien, Ogeyi Place as the Best Hotels in Niger Delta.
Federal Palace Lagos Airport Hotel won the Best non Brand Hotels in Lagos.
Meanwhile, Chelsea and Rockview Hotels continued their control of the Abuja Hotels environment. Obudu Resort and Grand Hotels won the Resort of the Year battle over La Campagne and Whispering Palms in Lagos State.
