AD Europe backs fresh convention

The Europe chapter of Alliance for Democracy (AD) has backed the call for a fresh national convention by the party.
The chapter gave its support for the fresh convention at a meeting held on Sunday August 22.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Mr. Yomi Amoo Olowe, the chapter noted that only a fresh convention at Abuja, would save the party from further disintegration.
It also stated that the two chairmen that were elected in the last controversial conventions should not be allowed to contest in the proposed convention.
The chapter declared: �The party cannot afford to be entangled in fresh court cases as those that distracted its political attention in the last term of the Government, the two factional chairmen are advised to withdraw their court cases against the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).�
The acting national chairman of the party, Chief Michael Koleosho and its committee were urged to ensure that the national convention committee is representative of members of all the groups in the party.
The meeting also resolved to ensure that all progressives in Nigeria come together, adding that only the progressives can take Nigeria out of its present predicament.
