Privatisation: Chukwumerije to Sensitise S/East Legislators Senator Uche Chukwume-rije, (Abia North) Senato-rial zone has taken up the challenge of sensitizing the South-East caucus of the National Assembly on the on-going privatization programme of the Federal Government. Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), at the weekend in Enugu, Chukwu-merije said, that he would discuss the issue with the leadership of the caucus to map out strategies to encourage their various constituencies to participate in the process. He confessed that Igbo legislators had never discussed privatisation saying ``now that I am sensitised, I will encourage them to start paying attention to it.'' The Legislator regretted the low participation of Igbo in the exercise and the hoped that the sensitisation forum organised by the special assistant to the president on privatization for the South-East zone would motivate them to participate actively in the programme. Chukwumerije said that the non-attendance of members of the National Assembly at the forum was due to a ``mix-up'' in the distribution of the invitations. He however, commended the organisers for successfully hosting the forum which featured prominent Igbo signatories from all walks of life. Reacting to the absence of National assembly members from the South-East, the Special Assistant to the president on the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Dr. Sunday Onuoha said invitations were sent to the Igbo legislators. Onuoha stressed that invitations were sent through the clerk of the Assembly, who ensured that invitation were delivered to the legislators.
