Udenwa Swares-in New Perm Secs By Agha Ibiam Governor Achike Udenwa of Imo State has appointed eight new Permanent Secretaries, the fourth since the inception of his administration. The appointment, according to him, underscored the great importance his administration attached to the position of permanent secretaries. At a swearing in ceremony held at the Multi-purpose Hall Oweri, Udenwa noted that the injection of experienced officers was a move aimed at consolidating the service. "As accounting officers of your ministries and departments, you have the onerous responsibility to properly supervise the activities of your subordinates for greater productivity. "You are to ensure that government policies and programmes, especially as it relates to our cardinal programmes in agriculture, industrialisation and re-orientation," Udenwa said. The appointment, which the governor added was on merit, was expected to bring to bear their experience over the years. He stated that it is mandatory for them to develop good rapport and working relationship with the political heads of their departments, by eschewing all forms of indiscipline and unnecessary antagonism in their actions.
