Anambra marks 13th anniversary  FELIX UKA

Anambra marks 13th anniversary

FELIX UKA, Awka

ANAMBRA State yesterday, marked its 13th anniversary of creation as a state, with the governor, Dr. Chris Ngige promising to restore the dignity of the state, as well as uplift it to greater heights.

The governor in a broadcast to the people of the state said "it has been our dream to put back smiles on the faces of Anambranians, restore their confidence, morale and trust in government as well as record accelerated and unparalled development within this period of our tenure in office".

He assured that his administration "has remained underterred even in the face of mounting political problem and distractions".

The governor who reeled out the progress recorded by the administration in the areas of payment of salaries and pensions, education, health, rehabilitation of roads, said, "I can assure you that our road work programme which traverses all the Local government areas of the state, is still on course".

"Let me take this opportunity to admonish the people of this state not to take the so called "shrine "saga or episode being bandied about as an excuse to cause a breach of the Law nor alligning with some unscrupulous individuals to cause trouble and destablize the peace of the state", he stated.

He added, I wish to warn all Anambranians to dissociate themselves from any association, group or organisation by whatever nomencleture that has plans to disturb the peace of the land through unauthorized assemblages or celebration other than this 13th anniversary of the creation of the state.

The Low Key celebration of the anniversary was the first by the state; the governor however said that subsequent anniversaries would be celebrated in more colourful way.
