World Bank Plans Debate for Nigerian Youth

World Bank in conjunction with the British Council in Nigeria organising a capacity building programme tagged 'Debate to Action' for selected youth leaders across the country.
In a release made available to THISDAY, Mr Chris Adetayo of the British Council said the debate is aimed at bringing together selected leaders from Nigeria youths organisations to strengthen their knowledge about development issues, share experiences and enhance their training skills.
He said the programme would be piloted in Kano, Lagos and Abuja and will be observed by representatives from Rivers State for adaptation and future roll out or adoption.
According to him, foreign and local resource persons will teach the young people about development issues such as millennium development goals as well as Nigeria's National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS).
Meanwhile, the Lagos Metropolitan Junior Chamber (LMJC), will be holding its 2004 Annual Convention/Business Forum between Friday 3rd and Sunday 5th September, at Eko Hotel, Lagos.
A release signed by Seyi Sogbanmu and Hadiza Omatsola, convention director and committee chairperson respectively disclosed that Mr Sunil Hingorani, Managing Director of Nulec Industries Limited, will deliver a paper on the theme "Public and Private Sector Leadership -- Challenges for Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs."
According to them, the convention which will culminate into swearing-in of new officers on the 5th of September is being sponsored by corporate organisations including Leadway Assurance Company Limited, MTN, Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, Minds and Brains Event Management Limited, Elmac Assurance Limited and Fountain Insurance Brokers Limited.
Others are OK Pens Limited, White Dove and Associates Limited, Sequioa Resources Limited and Waxtall Logomat Limited.
