Sulaiman while declaring open a workshop on Micro-Credit Scheme organised by the FGN/Middle Belt Development Programme remarked that the prejudices arrissed each other to keep the women folks economically backward.

The commissioner said the negative impact of poverty affects mostly women and children, adding that cultural prejudice hampers the participation of women income generating activities, thereby keeping them in a poor standard of living.

Sulaiman told the participants that the workshop was organised to empower rural women residing in the Northern Senatorial District of the state.

She hinted on available record which favoured a skilled woman from the unskilled one.

The commissioner added that efforts to equip and empower the women folk must be vigorously pursued by governments and non-governmental organizations.

In his address Chairman of Moro Local government, Alhaji Jimoh Adebayo Ayinde, described the workshop is a deliberate attempt to complement the efforts of the Saraki administration.

The council boss commended the programme which was geared towards economic empowerment of the women and the youths in the state.

He exuded confidence that at the end of the workshop, small scale industrialists that would produce quality school chalk, pop-corn, polythene bags as well as adire, clothing materials would emerge.
