DAME Names 20 Judges

Three academics and two representatives of the Association of Advertising Agencies in Nigeria are among 20 distinguished professionals announced to assess entries for the 13th edition of the respected Diamond Awards for Media Excellence (DAME). They are Professor Adigun Agbaje Dean of Social Sciences, University of Ibadan, Dr. Adidi Uyo, Senior Lecturer in Mass Communication, University of Lagos, Dr. Nosa Owens-Ibie of the World Health Organisation, Messrs. Gbemi Sagay and Sunkanmi Ajiboye, managing directors of The Shops Ltd. and Martlink Ltd. respectively.
Other judges include: veteran journalist columnist, Chief Gbolabo Ogunsanwo, retired director general of the Lagos state ministry of Information and Home Affairs, Mrs. Agbeke Ogunsanwo, Mr. Jimi Disu, a public relations consultant, Mr. Tony Nnachetta, a financial consultant, Chief Oliver Johnson, managing director, Intermark Associates, Mr. Joseph Afolabi, managing director, Extra Bold Consult. Mrs. Tinuola Odugbemi, CEO of Head high International and Mrs. Nkechi Nwankwo, executive secretary, Women's Leadership Group,
Veteran broadcasters and actors, Mrs Taiwo Ajai-Lycett and Mr Taiwo Obileye are also on board. So are Mr Tam Fiofori, filmmaker and photojournalist, Mr Victor Agunbiade, photographer and Mr. Feyi Smith of Champion Newspapers, Mr Dejo Olatoye, retired deputy editor-in-chief, News Agency of Nigeria and Mr. Ndubuisi Ugbede, director of the Times Journalism Institute.
A satement signed by Mr. Lanre Idowu, CEO, Diamond Publications Ltd., administrators of the Award, said the judges have been carefully selected for their personal integrity and contributions to the growth and development of various spheres of media work, ranging from print journalism to broadcasting, advertising, public relations, design and photography and the academia.
Established in 1992 to reward talent and enterprise annually, this year's presentation dinner is billed for the last quarter.
