As part of government’s determination to flush out bad eggs in his cabinet, the Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Danjuma Goje has suspended five officers for allegedly diverting relief materials meant for victims of recent flood disaster.

The suspension which was contained in a statement by the Special Assistant Media and Publicity, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed listed those suspended as Mr. Hamma Tanimu, a Special Adviser on Environment.

Others are Personal Assistant to the governor, Malam Shuaibu A. Deba (Sri-Lanka) and the Head of Education and Social Development Department (ESD) of Akko local government area of the State.

According to the statement “The three officers, along with two other political office holders (name withheld) were found to have been involved in an act of misappropriation of relief supplies meant for victims of the August 2004 flood disaster in Akko local government”.

It stated that the suspension of the three officials takes effect from November 30, while the case of the two political office holders has been referred to the House of Assembly for approval. Investigations by Daily Independent indicated that the man at the helm of the alleged diversion, Mr. Hamma Tanimu was said to have diverted large quantity of assorted grains and other materials thereby denying the victims of supply.
