By Paul Mumeh,

Senior Correspondent, Abuja

Immediate past members of the National Assembly led by former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim and erstwhile Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Ghali Umar Na’Abba have regrouped to strategise ahead of 2007 elections.

In what is tagged a reunion dinner, the former senators will today converge at Nicon Hilton Hotel. Senate President Adolphus Wabara and other lawmakers are expected at the dinner.

A statement by former chairman Senate committee on education, Senator Alex Kadiri, who is the protem chairman of the former Senators forum said the dinner will offer opportunity for both sides to share ideas and experiences for better legislation.

Already, Na’Abba has registered a group with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), it is named Forum of Former National Assembly Members (FFNAM).

The resolution of the FFNAM made available to Daily Independent by its publicity secretary Tony Ibana-Abasi Esu said the forum would hold its first annual general meeting in the first quarter of 2005.

He said the FFNAM also set up an eight-man committee to facilitate the 2005 event, which will include an annual lecture, election of internal auditors and members of its Board of Trustees (BOT) as well as award dinner.

The FFNAM spokesman confirmed that the group has acquired an office in Abuja to enable it implement its programmes including legislative and democratic training.

It is not clear as at the time of this report where the Anyim and Na’Abba group would pitch their tent.

But informed sources told our reporter that the Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former military President Ibrahim Babangida have started wooing them.
