Fayose wants court of appeal in Ekiti

By David Atalese

Special Correspondent,

Ado-Ekiti

Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has expressed deep concern over the imbalance in the distribution of federal establishments across the country.

Welcoming Justices of the Federal Court of Appeal in his office on Tuesday, Fayose lamented that the state was not favoured at all in the location of the appeal court and urged the federal government to establish one in the state.

He noted that fair play and equity were important to the progress and sustainability of Nigeria and stressed the need for even distribution of the federal parastatals across the nation.

Fayose promised that the state government would provide necessary logistics for the smooth take off of the court if established in the state.

He remarked that the judiciary was the last hope of the common man and praised it (judiciary) for its neutrality, stressing that its stands on national issues have proved that the judiciary remained unpolluted.

The governor praised the justices of the court of appeal for deciding to sit in Ekiti state and expressed optimism that the citizens of the state would benefit immensely from the gesture.

Speaking earlier, the president of the court, Justice Sefullah Mutaka-Coomassie told Fayose that the essence of their sitting in Ado-Ekiti was to bring justice to the doorstep of the people.

He said that the five-day sitting of the court began on Monday adding that the sitting has been a thing of joy for lawyers and litigants because it has saved them a lot of troubles and money.
