Last Updated: Wednesday, December 01st, 2004 HOME | Previous Page I didn’t buy auctioned vehicles, says Lagos Speaker By Habib Aruna Assistant Politics Editor, Lagos   The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Jokotola Pelumi, has debunked reports that he participated in the auctioning of vehicles, saying that the impression must not be created that there was any transaction between him and Danimex Nigeria Limited over vehicles, which are under litigation. In a press statement signed by Lanre Odubote, his chief press secretary, titled “The story is not true”, Pelumi frowned at the report, which he said was not complete since according to him, the speaker’s side of the story was not heard. The statement reads: “We wish to say unequivocally that it is not true that the Honourable Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly bought some vehicles from Danimex Nigeria Limited. “What happened in a nutshell was that the Speaker did not, at anytime, buy from the Deputy Sheriff of Lagos State any “judgement debtor applicant vehicles” and to the best of our knowledge, the names of the individuals who actually bought those vehicles are available and are with the Deputy Sheriff in the case of any dispute as to who bought them”. While stating that the above is the factual situation and what actually took place, the Speaker advised the media to always cross-check their facts and get across to all the parties before going to town with their stories.      Copyright� 2004.
