Sir Emeka Offor and the Senate

I wish to react to the recent face-off between the Chairman of Chrome Consortium, Sir Emeka Offor and the Senate Committee on Petroleum resources (down stream sector).

As far as I am concerned, the entire Senate has lost focus and only engages themselves on frivolities and vendetta mission which has little or no effect whatsoever on the suffering masses of Nigeria.

Asking Sir Emeka Offor to forward a comprehensive report on how chrome got the (T.A.M.) contract, the worth of the contract compared to the job done and whether due process was followed in 1988, having surpassed three heads of states, without hearing from NNPC and Shell the consultant on the contract, to me is nothing but ignorantce and lack of legislative wisdom on the part of Senator Abiola Ajumobi and the members of that faceless committee.

When FCT Minister Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai addressed them as fools, I thought that El-Rufai went too far. But I have now  seen that the Senate passed the Labour Bill with less than thirty six (36) members present out of 109 members. The Bill was from the Executive, seeking to split and cripple the NLC,the only man standing in the fight against Obasanjo’s oppressive government.  The Senate that could not pass a resolution condemning the madness and terrorism going on in Anambra State even when connivance of the Presidency is not in doubt, that Senate cannot only be described as animals and morons in human clothing.

Onitsha,
