    ANPP crisis: Etiebet denies allegation

    NDIDI OKAFOR, Abuja

NATIONAL chairman of crisis-tornAll Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Chief Don Etiebet, Monday faulted accusation of funds misappropriation levelled against him by the General Jerry Useni-led faction, describing it as false.

He said he was ready to account for the party’s funds "to the last kobo."

The Useni faction had called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate Etiebet for allegedly squandering party funds worth N113 million.

Etiebet, however, dismissed the accusation and threat of arraignment as untrue and baseless.

In a seven-point communique at the end of their National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, the Useni-led faction asked Etiebet to account for the sum of N113 million given to the party by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) adding that he must also explain alleged illegal withdrawal of money belonging to the party.

Etiebet while reacting in Maiduguri, venue of the two-day meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party said he was not yet aware of the said resolution.

He dismissed the allegation as untrue and baseless.

Nonetheless Chief Etiebet told Daily Champion, that no party fund was misappropriated saying "I will account for the party’s money to the last kobo."

He said his leadership has lived above board, running the affairs of the party in a transparent and accountable manner.

The ANPP is presently in the throes of intra-party crisis which led to the hosting of two NECs in Maiduguri and Abuja and attempts to overhaul the Board of Trustees.
