Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, his Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Katsina State Electoral Commission have been dragged to Katsina High Court over non-holding of election in six local government councils in the November 18 local government election. Alhaji Wada Nas and People Salvation Party (PSP) took the state governemnt to court. According to writ of summon filed on behalf of the plaintiffs in the case, their lawyer Chief Yunus Ustaz Usman, the plaintiffs contended that it would amount to discrimination by virtue of the constitution of the country not include the six local councils namely Baure, Murfi, Kusada, Dutsi, Daura and Matazu in the election to be held in the state on the said date. The action of the state government, the plaintiffs stated would unjust and inequitable for the defendants not to hold election in the said local councils since they formed part of the thirty four local councils in the state included the constitution of the country. The plaintiffs sought the order of the court to order the defendants to hold the election in all local councils including six earlier being excluded in the election. The court was asked to order the defendants to refund the depositor paid by the second defendant in the suit. When the case came up for hearing before Justice Abdullai Yusuf in Katsina, he ordered that all defendants in the case to be served considering the importance of the suit and adjourned the case to 8th of December this year for further hearing into the case.
