NATIONAL NEWS DSIE owns up over no election report By Austin Ogwuda Saturday, December 04, 2004 ASABA — Elections into the controversial new wards in Asaba and other parts of Delta North senatorial districts of Delta state did not still hold yesterday, despite assurances from DSIEC that the exercise would spill over to yesterday (Friday). The DSIEC’’s spokesman, Mr. Tony Tebekaemi had in a statement in Asaba Thursday night confessed that actually the commission was unable to hold the elections due to their (commission) fault and promised that the exercise would therefore be held yesterday (Friday). The terse statement said "The Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) hereby announces for the information of the general public that due to late arrival of voting materials at voting centres, voting should continue tomorrow (Friday) morning in all centers where voting could not take place today (Thursday)"".
