Speaking to Vanguard on the fringes of last week’s regional peace confab in Kaduna, Alhaji Adedoyin, nevertheless affirmed that the crave by some sections of the North to wave their separate identities could not be detrimental to the spirit of one north as desired by several prominent northerners. He said that since geography had bound the peoples of the North together, he thus urged stakeholders to work towards protecting those things that bind the people even as they must hold on to their individual ethnic identities. On a panacea for peace in the North, he said: "We need to understand exactly the basis for the conflicts in the North, there is no way you can run away from the issue of justice, the issue of poverty and from the issue of underdevelopment. All of them come together and except you tackle them, you cannot begin to say that there will be peace in the North," the commissioner said. Responding to concerns expressed during the peace confab on the widening gulf between the core-North and the middle belt sections of the North, Alhaji Adedoyin said: "It has not been raised in a way that is negative. Everyone has an identity. I am a Yoruba man from the North, my Yorubaness does not distract from my ‘‘Northerness.
