Engr. Abdullahi tasks SERERA board

By UMAR DANLADI ADO

AN 18-member board of directors of the state Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency has been inaugurated with an appeal to the members to dedicate themselves to the service of humanity.

The state deputy governor, Engr. Magaji Abdullahi made the appeal while inaugurating the board at Government House last Friday.

He reminded the members of the role expected of them especially in terms of providing necessary relief materials as assistance to needy, adding that there are 13 rehabilitation centres spread across the state.

The deputy governor lamented the poor condition of such centres and urged the members to make a recommendation aimed at ensuring prompt action toward improving the centres and the welfare of the inmates.

He announced the state governments resolve to assist the agency to attend the West African Disabled Summit in Damagaran, Niger Republic.

Earlier, the chairman of the board, Alhaji Bello Isa Bayero had expressed appreciation to the state government for recognising his immense contribution to the well being of the disabled in the state by assigning him additional responsibility.

He pledged to make everything possible to improve the situation in rehabilitation centres across the state and urged both the people and the entire staff of the board to cooperate with the newly inaugurated board.

Alhaji Isa Bayero advised people to desist from seeking assistance to perform naming, or wedding ceremonies instead, they should allow those with genuine reasons such as victims of fire disaster, flood, wind, accidents among others to benefit.
