MONDAY , DECEMBER, 6, 2004           Police nab suspected fake journalist A suspected fake journalist who claims to be a resident of Ibadan has been arrested by the police in Ilorin for impersonation. The suspect, who should be in his late forties, was arrested at the Kwara Hotel, venue of the just-concluded International Conference of World Muslim Congress held from Nov. 24 to Nov. 25. He gave his name as Dr T.O. Ogunseye of number 4, Keshinro Avenue, Felele area, Ibadan and was seen going after important personalities at the conference soliciting for interviews. He was also seen running after a prominent Islamic leader from Ibadan whose designation gave him jurisdiction over Muslims in Yorubaland, and was seen collecting some money from dignitaries. The vigilance and suspicion of the Kwara State Bureau Chief of Thisday Newspaper, Alhaji Tunde Sanni, drew the attention of his colleagues to the well-dressed suspect leading to his arrest. The fake journalist initially claimed to be a lawyer, but when asked to produce his identity card, he produced a drivers� licence instead. The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Gideon Marcus, who later confirmed the arrest, said N4,000 was found on Ogunseye and that investigation was still on.
