Responding, the council chairman, Alhaji Mahmud Sani Madakin Gini commended the committee for the gesture done to him, describing it as an encouragement towards discharging the onerous assignment bestowed upon him.

According to him, the council has built a town hall at a cost of N11 million at the Old Gwarzo road motor park, adding that it would also purchase 20 motorcycles for distribution to teachers in the area in order to boost their morale.

Responding Air-vice Marshal Muktar Muhammad (rtd) described the award as too early, insisting that the chairman should face the challenges of mass illiteracy in the area.

He further asserted: "I am not blaming the award, but really it will be a sort of an encouragement to the chairman to redouble his effort to the educational development of the area.
