Saboteurs behind ANPP’s crisis – Buhari From Mustapha Isa Kwaru, in Kano Former Head of State and All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), presidential candidate in the 2003 general elections, retired General Muhammadu Buhari, has said that the lingering conflict that has pervaded the party is the handiwork of saboteurs. Answering questions on a Radio Kano phone-in programme at the weekend, General Buhari pointed out that the saboteurs have vowed to cripple the ANPP. He said the plot was hatched in 2003 after the national convention of the party ad-ding that prominent members of the party are aware of these plots to destroy the ANPP by some self seeking individuals. The ANPP presidential candidate described as unfortunate that the crisis began at a time when the party should concentrate on its legal battle against the validity of the 2003 elections which President Olusegun Obasanjo was declared winner. According to him, “the unresolved crisis that has marred the ANPP was unwholesome and ill-timed. “Considering the hurdle ahead and uncertainty of the court judgement, if modalities are not put in place tow-ards a lasting solution to the issue, the future of the party will be in danger,” he said. Commenting on the recent hike in the prices of petroleum products, the former military leader blamed the National Assembly for not opposing the increase. He expressed dismay that the lawmakers who were saddled with the mandate to protect the interest and rights of the electorates against any abuse have failed to resist Obasanjo’s bad policies. General Buhari advised the electorate to recall their representatives in the National Assembly for “failing to protect them against bad government policies.”     TO NEXT NEWS PAGE...
